What is the Setting for the Giver? By: Joseph Mah
For the setting of the book The Giver is in the near future. I know this because Jonas never addresses the fact of something that presently we are trying see what’s happening so it must of not been very far ahead in the future. In the book people take pills instead of taking an injection. This must mean that these people must still work normal machines like boats and maybe cars. Though they never mention cars, they do mention bikes and they don’t describe the bikes being technologically advanced. Vehicles are all the same as the modern day ones we have.
The weather however, is way different than in the present. They have no precipitation and have very little knowledge of animals. In December, it’s the same as summer, spring, and fall, not cold just warm with no wind. They do not have to worry about wearing different clothes and bringing umbrellas around. Most of the citizens don’t even what snow is! The Giver is the only one who did.
That is my setting of The Giver and what I found and put together in these two paragraphs.

In December, it’s the same as summer, spring, and fall, not cold just warm with no wind and it's as normal and unchanging as a rock. They do not have to worry about wearing different clothes and bringing umbrellas around. Most of the citizens don’t even what snow is! The Giver is the only one who did ,and was always supposed to be!
